A volume column that stays short

Price can travel while the column beside it barely rises. The Thursday exercise is to say that plainly and then stop.

Printed chart pages with tall and short volume columns beside price bars on a lacquered desk

Taller or shorter, nothing else

Students compare one column with the column before it. The allowed words are taller, shorter, or about the same. Adjectives about urgency are crossed out.

The comparison is made with a finger on the paper, not with a remembered number from a screen. If the print is faint, Kittisak brings a second copy rather than letting someone guess.

When price moves and the column does not

The pack includes a week where the bars step higher and the columns stay short. Malai asks what you are willing to claim. 'The bars rose' is allowed. 'Buyers are in control' is not, because the page does not show a person.

The quiet column is left unmarked except for a small tick in the margin meaning 'I saw this and I will not decorate it.'

A sentence that fits in the margin

The homework is one sentence: what the bars did, and whether the column agreed. Two clauses. No third clause about what will happen tomorrow.

Bring that sentence to the next Tuesday. If it does not fit in the margin, it is too long for this exercise.
